How can I tell if a class is authorized?
Recently VMware has been seeing a rise in grey market training. Classes that are not authorized by VMware do not meet the requirements for certification. Be sure any class you attend is listed on our website. Even partner led classes are listed on our schedule so if it's not there, it is unauthorized.

What do I need to know about the Fast Track class?
The Fast Track class is a new class bein piloted by VMware in late May. It is a 5-day high intensity class that covers information from both Install and Configure and DSA classes. It DOES meet the requirements for certification. In fact, all students of the class will receive vouchers for the VCP test at the completion of the Fast Track class. For more information on the class or to register for an offering please contact education@vmware.com

What new certifications can I expect from VMware?
We are planning to launch a high level certification in early 2008. This certification will be aimmed at candidates with a technical architect level of knowledge in our products. This will be a multi teired certification and will require the VCP on VI3 certification. Also in the works is a new lower level certification, one below the current VCP certification. This is still in the planning stages, so more information will follow.

Are there any other certifications available from VMware?
At this time the VCP on VI 3 is the only available technical certification from VMware. We will be launching new certifications in 2008. If you are a current VCP and would be interested in being part of a beta launch of a new exam please contact us as certification@vmware.com. We will contact you if and when we need you.

Certification Requirements
There are a number of paths to VCP on VI3 certification. 1.) If you are currently a VCP on 2, you must take the new VCP on VI3 certification exam. Your VCP on 2 certification will not expire but we encourage VCPs to stay up to date. 2.) All other candidates need to take either the VMware authorized VI3: Install and Configure, or if eligible the VI3: Deploy, Secure and Analyze course. We also offer the Fast Track class, a high intensity 5-day class that covers material from both the Install and Configure course and the DSA course. This class also meets the requirements for certification and a voucher for the exam is included in the class price.

How can I prepare for the VCDX?

Certification strongly suggests you look at all available blueprints and data sheets for the Enterprise and Design exams. This is an extremely high level certification with a small target audience. No certifications will be issued for the individual exams, you must complete all steps before receiving the VCDX certification.

Courses are available to help prepare for the Enterprise Exam and the Design Exam. These courses are meant to provide foundations in the objective areas tested on the exams and are not meant to be the only source of preparation. The following courses are available:

VMware Infrastructure 3: Deploy, Secure and Analyze v3.5

VMware Infrastructure 3: Fast Track v3.5 (combines content from both VI3: Install and Configure and VI3: DSA)

VMware Infrastructure 3: Design Patterns (Release Date to be Announced)
